my bet is that india isn't short of capital, it's short of awareness. good ideas dying of being unheard is a stupid way to go.

i look for indian companies working on something physically hard. a mechanism you can point at, not a wrapper on someone else's model. usually chemistry, materials, hardware, or biology when it's genuinely new, and almost always a problem people already agree is large but are wrong about the cause of.

three things i think are true:
the frontier is moving from bits to atoms. companies building inside regulatory vacuums win sooner than the ones who wait. indigenous supply chains are a when, not an if.
these are the industries i'm looking to cover. it's the list i pick episodes from, so you're seeing them before the film goes out.
actuators, harmonic drives, high-torque bldc motors indian robotics can't sell to indian defence, because almost all of this comes from china. i think we can build it cheaper than china.
alt-energy, production and storage. small modular reactors, sodium-ion batteries. the iran war showed us the true colours of our firang besties, and exposed our biggest dependency.
synthetic nutrients. KSM and API in pharma. we import 70 to 90% of these from china. indigenous bio-manufacturing is what makes medicine and food cheaper.
climate resilient agri-biotech, indigenous mass-produced fertiliser india imports nearly all the potash it uses, and it eats a chunk of the union budget.
cooling. compressors, refrigerants, drives and controls. cooling is 8 to 10% of all the energy india produces. by 2050 that's expected to be 45%. up to 15% of staple produce rots for want of a cold chain, and we import most of the parts.
